Discipline and Capability Interviewing

Two Day Programme
Target Audience
This course is aimed at those managers, supervisors and personnel professionals who have a responsibility for interviewing staff suspected of a discipline offence or of breaching a code of conduct. The course is also designed to meet the needs of those line managers who interview staff regarding capability and sickness issues.

Course Overview
This course covers the interviewing side of discipline and capability matters. It will give interviewers the confidence to conduct professional and effective one to one interviews. The course includes;

  • Planning and preparation
  • Understanding barriers and how to reduce them
  • Building rapport
  • Questioning techniques
  • Structuring the interview


The course includes practical group sessions to develop skills; these include syndicate work and some role play situations to run practice interviews.
